This Sunday Patriots and Eagles will face off for the title of world champions and bring home the Vince Lombardi trophy to their respective cities.

The Philadelphia Eagles are making their first appearance in the Super Bowl since 1981 when the Oakland Raiders defeated them. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots are walking on familiar ground as they are trying to capture their third SuperBowl title in the last four years, including two in a row. The last three years Eagles have made it to the NFC title game but have fallen short to the likes of the Panthers, Buccaneers, and Rams. Of these three teams, only one of them went on to win the Super Bowl. The Eagles will have one last hurdle to overcome before they are satisfied. Just making it to the Super Bowl will be considered a very disappointing season in the eyes of many. In order for the Eagles to pull together a win in the biggest game of the year, they will have to triumph over one of the league’s most potent offenses with Tom Brady (108.9 quarterback rating) running the show at quarterback and Corey Dillon at running back.

Brady’s ability to take as much time as he needs in the pocket makes him one of the premier quarterbacks in the league right now. To counteract this the Eagles will be putting more pressure on him by blitzing and playing good coverage downfield. The Eagles are not the only ones that must stop a very good quarterback. Pro Bowl Quarterback Donavan McNabb will also be a force to be reckoned with. McNabb threw for 31 touchdowns and 8 interceptions during the regular. Fourteen of these throws were to newly acquired wide receiver Terrell Owens. On the other hand, Tom Brady threw 14 interceptions en route to 28 touchdown passes.

Although both teams have very good quarterbacks behind center, passing will not be the only focus. Both teams also have very good defenses and running games. Brian Westbrook and Corey Dillon will have a big part in the outcome of the game. Whichever running back has the better game could be on the cover of the sports page on Monday hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy over their heads.

"I will play on Sunday. I know the type of person I am. I have a lot of faith in my ability. I feel great. I'm proving a lot of people wrong. The sky is the limit for me. There are no limitations." The biggest question surrounding the preliminary Super Bowl hype is whether star wide receiver, Terrell Owens will be in good enough physical condition to suit up for possibly the biggest game of his career. Owens returned to practice on Monday, and according to team members, did quite well considering that just 43 days earlier he severely injured his right leg and underwent surgery that placed two screws in his ankle. Team doctors have not approved Terrell’s return to the field but Owens definitely has his heart set to play this Sunday. You can bet that if he does not suit up he will be on the sidelines bringing his energy to the stadium. Besides Owens, Tight End Chad Lewis is very unlikely to play because of a foot injury he suffered in the victory over the Falcons. He was scheduled to undergo surgery sometime this week.

No matter how the game may end, a Patriots last minute drive to set up another game winning field goal for Adam Vinatieri, a touchdown pass to star receiver Terrell Owens, or a defensive stand by either team, this game is bound to be one for the ages.
