At-a-glance

Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks has averaged 27.2 points and 8.8 assists in his first five starts which all happened to be wins. This improved the Knicks win streak to seven. Lin scored the last six points of the game and hit the game winning three with 0.5 seconds left Tuesday night at Toronto. He has scored more points in his first five starts than any other player in modern-day NBA. Lin has most definitely drawn attention to himself and earned respect from authority figures all over the sports world, but can he keep this up?

“Linderella story of the year jeremy lin has lingle handedly played lensational lincredible I’m linpressed all he does is Lin Lin Lin gd jib” Shaquille O’Neal tweeted.

Lin wasn’t offered any type of athletic scholarships out of high school. He attended Harvard University and was undrafted out of college. He was cut by both the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets before joining the Knicks this season.

Critics question how the new phenom will coexist with star player Carmelo Anthony when he returns from a groin injury. It seems there may be a new sheriff in town.

(2-28)

The Knicks have gone 2-3 in their last five games; losing to the Hornets, Nets, and Heat while beating the Mavs and Hawks. Lin has simmered down with the scoring. Unable to post up ‘lead-scorer’ numbers in any of the last five, however in three of the games Lin was the game-high assist leader with 14, 9, and 9.

His story is respectable and his work ethic undeniable, but is all this sudden press too much for the kid to handle? Has he quickly become overrated? What will the future of Jeremy Lin consist of? He happens to already have 76 turnovers on the season; a rather high stat for a point guard to be considered elite.

Knicks play the Cavaliers Wednesday night; Lin will definitely continue to have pressuring eyes watching his every play.
