At-a-glance

The Arrowhead varsity volleyball crew has recently been awarded the WIAA school sportsmanship award, the only team in school history to accomplish such an honorable task.

“I was pleasantly surprised,” head coach Jean Henschel said. “The guys were well deserving of the award.”

Although the Warhawks didn’t quite make it to the final round of the state tournament, they came close. Perhaps more importantly, they showed true sportsmanship at an extremely high level of play.

“The match against Catholic Memorial was probably the best one I’ve ever been a part of as a coach, player, and even as a spectator.” Henschel said. “The guys played so hard it didn’t even feel like a loss.”

Arrowhead will honor the boys with a wall plaque and banner in the north campus gymnasium.

“I wish I could capsulate what just took place and use it as an example for all to see,” Executive Director of the WIAA Douglas Chickering said. “This is what high school sports is all about.”
