On January 24^th President Barack Obama made his State of the Union Address to Americans all over.  He focused on the importance of secondary education and the ability of the average family to pay for it.  Currently the average tuition fee in the United States is $17,000 for an in-state public college.  President Obama wants everyone to be able to go to college but if you can’t afford it at the time, you have the option to take out a student loan.

Student loans have been the solution for many college students who have to pay for their entire secondary education by themselves.  However as of July students loans may have an increase in interest if Obama’s plan is not passed by Congress.  According to Ball State Daily News, “Starting in July, if the low rate of 3.4 percent isn't reinstated, it could go back to 6.8 percent, which represents an average $2,000 increase over the course of paying back the loan.” 

Paying back student loans could leave a person in more debt. If a job is not found quickly after graduation, the person begins to feel uncertain if they will be able to pay back what they owe. 

If you are thinking about your future it may be a good idea to major in a field that may require more workers so you are almost guaranteed a job after you graduate.  Also try not to change majors while in college because this could save you a lot of money.
