At-a-glance

On Saturday, October 2nd, Arrowhead’s doors open to homecoming on a whole new scale with the theme Mario Party. Since Homecoming is coming up faster than Luigi on a super charged go-kart, it’s time to search for the dress to tie the night together.

New styles for this season have something for everyone. Last year’s trend, bright colors, catch anyone’s eye. Instead of solid colors, though, go for crazy lines and stripes or exotic floral patterns.

Black and white are the classic colors that can never be taken the wrong way. Add a 2010 twist to it by buying the white dress with splashed of black. Mix and match the colors with lace, ruffles, and even jewelry.

Want the classic look with a modern twist? Black and “nude” is a dress for those looking for more risky look. A black dress along with flesh colored fabric wrapped in more black lace will have everyone doing double takes. White House Black Market will fulfill all your black dress needs.

“Black,” says Junior Jenna Sprung. “I’ve worn black all the dances I go to.”

Want to shine on the dance floor? Fully-covered sequence dresses are the right choice if you want to sparkle. Sequence dresses coming all colors and styles to choose from and have plenty of options open for jewelry.

Once you figure out the pattern you’re looking for, cut and style are also a big factor to think about. It’s better to hold off on the down-to-ground dresses, and save those for prom. Short, knee lengths are better for homecoming. Short dresses give room for less formal dancing and show off cute shoes.

For homecoming 2010, strapless dresses and single shoulder straps are the style. They’ll make a boy’s head spin faster than a round-about go-kart track. Just be cautious for slip ups.

These dresses can be found at stores everywhere: JC Penny’s, Macy’s, and Boston offer every variety of dress for in expensive prices. If you’re looking to splurge, Winsor and Charlotte Russe offer top of the line dresses.
