Arrowhead students, are you interested in being the face of OverDrive?

What is OverDrive, you ask? OverDrive is a new program Arrowhead is acquiring this summer, which enables students and teachers to download books and audio recordings, whether it’s an assigned book or a book a student wants to read for fun.

OverDrive can replace checking out books manually in the library. It is a convenient way for students to keep up with their reading, wherever they are.

Students simply enter their Arrowhead login and student ID# to enter OverDrive, which is found on the Arrowhead library webpage.

The way the page is designed is similar to online shopping. You add books and audio recordings to your cart, and once you’re finished, they’re available to download FOR FREE.

The books and audio recordings, also known as eBooks, are compatible on Mac or PC computers, and can be read anywhere. The books can be saved on a flash drive, sent through email, downloaded on your phone, or uploaded on your iPod. The books are available on your console until you’re finished reading them. The books and recordings are files that can be used at your convenience.

To advertise OverDrive, Arrowhead is putting together a calendar, and posters that will be put up around the school. To make these calendars and posters more personal to Arrowhead, there is a contest. Donna Smith, the AHS librarian, is asking students to submit pictures for these advertisements.

These pictures must include students listening to their iPods, whether it’s jogging, sitting down, or chatting with friends. More than one person can be in the photo, and students must wear plain clothing, free of logos. The pictures must be of high-resolution quality.

Only three pictures will be chosen for the contest. If you’re interested, the contest deadline is May 15th. Students must email their pictures to Donna Smith at smith@ahs.k12.wi.us. Students will be selected for these three contest pictures.
