At-a-glance

The AHS Varsity boys’ netters strolled through their first round of sectionals.

The Hawks came out strong against Middleton, defeating them in the first game 15-5. The boys continued to stomp on their competition in the second game, winning 15-8. Middleton quickly answered back, defeating AHS in the third game 15-13. The Warhawk troops knew what they had to do heading into the fourth game, and they got the job done, coming out victorious with a 15-11 win.

“The guys came out with fire and the desire to go further in the tournament,” Coach Jean Henschel said.

Topping the Hawks was senior Captain Kasen Riemersma with 38 assists and 7 blocks. Also leading the boys was Senior Sean Kebbekus with 21 kills and 4 aces. Junior Dave Jackson contributed 9 digs.

The Hawks battle Madison Memorial in the second round of sectionals on November 6th.

“They are a pretty solid team,” Kebbekus said. “It will probably go to five games.”
