“Scary Movie 3” (84 minutes, PG-13) starring Anna Faris, Charlie Sheen, Anthony Anderson and Eddie Griffin, and directed by David Zucker, frightened moviegoers last weekend with a heinous mix of everything one loathes.

The Scary Movie franchise relies on the outright stupidity of horror films and pop culture. Creating a parody of some of 2002’s “best” films including Signs, the Matrix Reloaded, 8 Mile, and the Ring, and society’s top scandals such as Michael Jackson and the emergence of pastoral pedophiles, “Scary Movie 3” proves the worst film of this year, perhaps of all time. One often hears more laughter in a drama than in this “comedy.” The film really lets the viewer down, setting the scene for a comedic climax, but never quite hitting the punch line.

To rant on an individual’s performance in this film would be stupid as it is a parody, but since they made complete fools of themselves, one can consider it fair game. This is one film none of these actors will willingly admit to starring in, and should be rather ashamed to have wasted their time on. One has now lost all respect for every person involved with this endeavor. There was no stand out performance, there was no stand out moment, looking back on the film, there really was nothing. One leaves the theater feeling like they just got robbed of $8 and a large portion of their I.Q. Most people admit the first two films in the trilogy were bleak, yet somehow the Wayans brothers caused even the most stubborn viewer to giggle. However, the entire trilogy was ruined under the direction of David Zucker. Critics and viewers alike hoped the director of “Airplane!” would revive the relatively deep slump the franchise had fallen into. Miraculously, Zucker defies popular belief and causes “Scary Movie 3” to be one of the most terrible cinematic pieces ever, surpassing even the stupidity of its predecessors.

This movie really shows that movies can overcome generational lines, for not a single person one knows would truly find this film amusing, regardless of their age. One hopes that viewers can avoid seeing this film and rather donate their money to the creators, so that they can buy themselves a clue to their worn out welcome in the box office. The one good thing about “Scary Movie 3”: it was just over an hour long.
