Recently the circus group Cirque du Soleil created a Beatles-themed show and decided to remix some of the bands best songs. I must admit, I was a little skeptical when I heard about this (the greatest songs from the greatest band of all time being remixed by a bunch of circus clowns!?!), but I felt a little better after I heard the brilliant original Beatles producer George Martin and his son were working on this new soundtrack.

Don’t like remixes? Me neither, but I must admit, this whole record never felt like anything was redone. It’s more of a mixture than a whole new concoction.

First off, all the songs are remastered to sound a little better, especially if you have some nice surround sound speakers. For example, on the classic Lennon hit “Revolution,” there is some clicking in the original version. This has been taken care of and made to sound, for lack of a better word, “fuller.”

Once this was completed, bits and pieces of just about everything you can think of from those four Brits can be heard. This soundtrack is reported to use thousands of different sounds and bits the band recorded throughout their entire career.

Some of the songs have even been mixed together. For example, “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite” has bits of “Helter Skelter” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” playing in the background. If you haven’t already, go pick this album up, Beatles fan or not.
