On Saturday, December 8, the Arrowhead girls’ varsity gymnastics team fell short by four tenths of a point to Whitefish Bay at the Oconomowoc Invitational.

The Lady Hawks started on the beam, which is the hardest event to start on because of the mental toughness needed. Even though the girls had some tough falls, Kirstyn Wood still came away with high score on the beam with a 9.075. After the shaky start on the beam they still had three more events.

For the floor routine, Arrowhead had three gymnasts in the top seven. They were Wood with an 8.55, Lindsey Day with an 8.525, and Shannon Smith with an 8.3.

The vault was the girls strongest competition, scoring a team total of 34.125, which was tied for the best team overall. Arrowhead leaders were Day with an 8.85, Ali Slater with an 8.775 and Wood with an 8.3.

The final competition was the uneven parallel bars where, once again, the Lady Hawks had the highest team score at 33.8. The leaders were Day with an 8.65, Wood with an 8.525, and Slater with an 8.35.

Arrowhead had three gymnasts in the top six for all around leaders. They were Wood with a total of 34.45, Day with a 34.275, and Slater with a 33.

The next competition is at home on Wednesday, December 12, at 6:30 pm in the North West gym.
