At-a-glance

Luiza is 18 years girl from Poland, one of 356 students from SLI this summer.

What is her experiences about SLI?

Anna: Why attended you SLI?

Luiza: My English teacher from Poland recommended me this course. She told me that it will be a great way to improve my English before English exam which I will take the next year.

Anna: What can you tell me about your roommates?

Luiza: I live with three girls from Poland. We are from the same school and even from the same class. But I am not very gald of it. I would prefer to live with someone from another country. It will be a great chance to talk in English all the time.

Anna: But what is the atmosphere in your room?

Luiza: Very pleasant. We understand well each other. But we have always problems with cleaning. No one of us wants to do anything in room. We always don’t have time to it or are too tired. But this is the only one problem which we have.

Anna: Is there something which strongly surprised you at SLI?

Luiza: Teachers! They are great! I heard from my colleagues who were on SLI the last year that they are very pleasant but I didn’t think they will be so great. They are very professional and understanding.

Anna: What surprised you at SLI but wasn’t good?

Luiza: I thought that SLI will give me more chance to talk in English, because in school I don’t have it very much. I am very shy perosn, so the best way for me is when teachers on lessons ask every student to say something, but on SLI is a small group of people who talk a lot and no one besides them.

Anna: Something more?

Luiza: Maybe fact that people are devided in groups because of country from which they come from. They spend most of time with each other and are closed to new people.

Anna: Do you think that SLI gave you a lot of new skills?

Luiza: I think that my grammar skills is on higher level than before and my pronunciation. Mr. Mouth was the great way to improve this skills.

Anna: What are three thing which will come to your mind when somebody will say you SLI?

Luiza: Mr. Mouth- it was the way in which we practise our pronunciation , Luke Theule- my teacher from university skills lessons and “But American joke”- sentence very often used by Andrew Milton after his jokes on reading lessons.

Anna: What can you say about your time after lessons?

Luiza: I am little sad because we don’t have much spare time. Therefore we can’t do much a lot after lessons. We haven’t enough time to rest and we are tired on our mornings lessons.

Anna: If you had a chance to change something in SLI. What will be it?

Luiza: There is no doubt that the time of morning lessons. I am sure that if they will start more time late it will be a good way to make them more interesting for student because they wouldn’t be so sleepy.
