Kreion is among the many bands that play diverse types of music such as metal and “screamo” in our school.

Considerably labeled as metal, jam band, and death metal on their MySpace, the band has a unique style to their sound. After a few name changes, Kreion finally decided on a name and is becoming more serious with their music. Formerly known as the Critical Addiction or Cardiac Arrest, Kreion features seniors Kyle Crouch and Travis Miles as the guitar players, sophomore Drew Parks on vocals, and sophomore twins Justus Allen on drums and Nick Allen playing bass.

“Nick and Justus didn’t like the other names,” Miles said. “We wanted something that was one word, like Gojira, so senior Matt Nemeth went on Google and translated ‘creation’ into some weird language and got Kreion.”

Nick said, “Our sound is like, raw. Travis and Kyle use super-duper distortion, but the bass is really clean. It’s like raw and heavy. Franck Hermanny is one of my influences along with Lamb of God and Necrophagist. I learned my bass technique from him.”

Kreion is planning a few shows in the future. With five completed songs and three of those being mastered, the nearest show will the day after Halloween at Crouch’s house, and another one between late December and early January to allow time to lay down more tracks. Ties with the front man of the local hardcore band Seraph, “Metal” Mike McIlyar, has given them the possibility of sharing the stage with a few other bands.
