- Tournament time is approaching as we come to a close on the winter sports season. Some upcoming tournaments within the Federal League include:
- Bowling at Park Centre Lanes Feb. 7.
- First round of boys basketball and the first and second round of girls basketball at specific site schools.

- Over winter break and the first week back to school, three Hoover swimmers were recognized as Swimmers of the Week in the Canton Repository. Freshman Thomas Tedrow and senior Mandi Grandjean were featured the week of Dec. 26. Freshman Mitch Alters was honored the week of Jan. 9.

-The Pizza Oven Classic, which has been held annually by Hoover for its sixth consecutive year, was this past weekend. It is always held over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend and consists of 20 teams and 10 games over two days.

- After coming off a loss to Jackson the night before with a score of 60-67, the Varsity boys team rallied to take down Farrell High School who reign from Pennsylvania. Five of the Viking players hit double figures during the game with sophomore Nyles Evans and senior Joe Gross leading with 15 points each. Senior Nick Sommers and juniors Jimmy Wackerly and Cory Veldhuizen put up 11 each respectively, with a final score of 77-61.
The boys (7-2) host the Boardman Spartans tonight at the “Win Tunnel.”
