It is a difficult time for seniors at the moment. Senior portfolios, senior papers and products, senior presentations, college applications, scholarships, and college and AP classes add an extra amount of stress to the school year. It is often wished that there was an easier way of doing these things. In most cases, there is not. But as for college applications, seniors should always consider applying for early action or early decision.
Early admission is offered by many colleges across the United States. If a student applies using early admission, there are several benefits. Applying early gives each student a better chance at getting in to the college you want since the school will receive your application prior to almost everyone elses. This means that there are fewer applications and a higher chance of acceptance.
Another benefit of early action or decision is that if indeed you are accepted to a college, you will know sooner. As soon as it is discovered that you have been accepted, worries can subside and attention can be given elsewhere. One can focus on yet another matter of importance, such as scholarships or senior papers.
Although some colleges still do not offer early admission, it is best to look around for additional colleges that do. Those colleges may not be your “dream school” but they can guarantee that you will have somewhere to go to if all else fails. Plus this will be known ahead of time.
Applying to colleges early cannot hurt. It may take a little longer to get through the extra applications, but it will be worth it when a letter comes in the mail for you and it says “Congrats!” on it.
