The varsity softball team tried their hardest this year. They played a total of 17 games throughout the season that started in March.

There were fourteen girls on the team altogether. They were coached my Eddie Cecil. Jackie Ingledue and Jessica Winstead played first base. Rachel Morris and Chelsey Smith played second base and Lisa Taylor played third base. Shortstop was Molly Bryden, the catcher was Shelby Smith, center field was Megan Crew, left field was Amanda Myers, and right field was Candice Shauber and Courtney Taylor. The two pitchers for the team were Jessi Kersey and Casey Walters.

The record for the season was 3-14. The best game score was 13-0. The worst was 19-0.

Lisa Taylor stated, “ We weren’t surprised about the victories, we knew who we could be and who we couldn’t.”

There are only three of the players that are graduating and won’t be playing next year. They are Amanda Myers, Jessica Winstead, and Molly Bryden.

On Saturday May 7, the team went to the regional tournament. They lost their first game because of a few crucial errors made.

Out of all of the girls, Molly Bryden and Lisa Taylor had the best batting averages for the season.

Hopeful about next year, Lisa Taylor said, “We should do well. We will have new talent coming and the coach will do better."
