Who is this "Crazy Pizza Guy?"
"Crazy Pizza Guy," aka Mr. Prost, poses with his vintage diliverymobile that warms the hearts of West Bend pizza lovers. -
The legend began years ago at a Florida Pizza Hut. He was a college student entering his final year, and like most college students, was in the need of some extra cash. Little did he know that what started out as delivering pizzas in Florida would lead to the creation of an alter ego making itself known on Sunday nights in West Bend and every day in his Physics classes.

This man, of course, is Mr. Richard Prost.

While the rush of delivering pizzas first struck in Florida in his college days, Prost says that he has always had the pizza business in his past. “I’ve been in the business pretty much my whole life”, says Prost. “I was 12 years old when I first started working at Dick’s Pizza, and I worked there until I was about 21.”

After completing college, Prost had a year off until he went to grad school and continued his delivering ways for Pizza Hut in West Bend, starting in the summer of 1999 and logging around 30 hours a week.

Over the years, Prost has had many strange encounters with his customers. He’s gotten candy as a tip before and a few years ago a customer saw the rust on his famous pizza truck and offered to spray paint over it for him.

“When I was delivering in Florida, I delivered to some houses where the recipients weren’t exactly fully clothed,” Prost remembers. However, the most popular story he has delivering pizzas is the famed “Bomb the Crazy Pizza Guy,” which is captured on video and shown to his many Physics classes.

In it, his former students plan to bomb him with water balloons as he delivers the pizza and……well, I don’t want to ruin it, so you’ll have to see it for yourself. When, delivering pizzas, Prost has been bombed a total of three times; once four years ago, a second time two years ago, and a third time this past summer.

Prost has even used the role of Crazy Pizza Guy in his classes, often incorporating the character into questions on his tests.

These days, Prost doesn’t deliver quite as much as he used to. Due to his duties as a teacher and a father, he now delivers pizzas for Pizza Hut from 4pm to 8pm on Sundays. Even though he works reduced hours these days, Prost still enjoys his four-hour break on Sundays, using it as relaxation. “I use my time delivering as a type of therapy. It’s a way to reflect on the past week and focus on the week ahead. That, and it’s fun to rock out to my tunes in the pizza truck,” said Crazy Pizza Guy himself.

As for how long he plans to keep delivering, he worked out a deal between him and his wife. “We agreed that I would stop once my pizza truck stopped working. It’s not the greatest truck, but I take it to the kids in automotive class to fix it up and it still runs good.” So the next time you have that craving for pizza on a Sunday night, pick up the phone and give Pizza Hut a call, and ask to get it delivered by the crazy pizza guy, Mr. Prost.
