Girls’ Basketball wins second district title: Sports brief

The Varsity Girls’ Basketball team won its second consecutive district title with a 56-31 win over Detroit Henry Ford High School on Nov.18.

Sophomore forward Skylar Miller scored 26 points in the game.

Miller is a tremendous offensive and defensive player, says Assistant Coach Lester Johnson:“She does well whether she scores points or not, and she’s able to play every position.”

Johnson says that Miller is capable of becoming an All-American in college basketball.

The Lady Jays finished their season with an 11-11 record, after a 50-40 regional loss to Mercy High School.

With her outstanding abilities several schools are already courting Miller, who has her mind set on Tennessee State University.

Miller says, “I think this season went pretty well, but next year I want to be state champ, and I would just like to become a better player.”
