Coming out on top, the HHS Eagles downed the Colby Eagles 21-16 at their home opener on Sept. 9.
Coach Merritt stated, “I thought we got off to a great start. We were able to score on our first two drives, jumping out to an early lead. Colby made some adjustments at half-time and really challenged us in the 2nd half. Our kids showed perseverance by answering on one of Colby’s 2nd half touchdowns and getting a couple of stops on 4th down to win the game.”
Defensive leaders were Colten Lissolo with 13 tackles Ty Haller with 12 and Yates Sutton with 8. Cody Frederick completed 4 out of 11 passes. He had 2 touchdown passes, one to Raul Pena and the other to Isidro Mora. Leading rushers were Miguel Degollado with 79 yards on 13 carries, followed by Cordell Barnes with 62 yards on 16 carries.
