Mrs. Lou Turner, a wonderful addition to the St. Joe community, is a new art teacher that recently left Ridgeland High School(RHS). Besides RHS, she has also taught at the University of Southern Mississippi. Turner instantly fell in love with St. Joe when she attended the last Senior Art Show. She was absolutely inspired and amazed by the level of talent that flowed throughout the students. The campus, the community, and the simple fact that St. Joe is a school centered around prayer and Christ are just a few reasons that compelled Turner to teach at St. Joe.
When asked why she chose to teach art, she exclaimed, “there is simply nothing else!”. She holds a passion for art that cannot be feigned. Both, her Art I and II, classes can see her excitement and love for art.
As an art teacher, Mrs. Turner has an inner fire that drives her to release her creative spirit. Many things act as the fuel to her fire, or the inspiration for her work, but there are two things that truly spark her creativity: nature and other artists.
This school year St. Joe has welcomed many new faces to join the St. Joe family. St. Joe is lucky to have Turner because she brings creativity and an inventive imaginative spirit. Brooke Walker, a senior from Turner’s Art I class commented, “Mrs. Turner brings fresh and new ideas to the art department. I really love her class. “
Welcome to the family, Mrs. Turner.
