Of three Shores Destination Imagination (DI) teams, one team will continue on to the global competition on May 25 – 28 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
The team that consists of juniors Claire Wilson, Andrea Veenstra, and Franny Kromminga, and sophomores Rachel Baxter, Maddie Campbell, and Abigail Wilson, and freshman Madeline Wilson tied with Saline for first place with their “Triple Take Retro” challenge.
“In our skit, we had to tell a story to three different audiences, three different times. It was about a grandma who sends a letter to the zoo asking to send a pet to her granddaughter,” Kromminga said. “The zoo ends up sending them all different animals, but finally they send her a puppy, and it is perfect.”
Kromminga said she is excited for the global competition which her group has gone to twice before.
“I’m really excited for the global competition,” Kromminga said. “I love the environment because you are with many people from all over the world who are creative minded and think like you and your friends. Our skit also made it into Pops, so we will have extra practice before globals.”
