                             Safety Issues With Sports

Many people of any age, enjoy sports . This doesn't come as a surprise to me but, the requirements to be in the sport's team in High School does. At Orange Glen High School, to be involved in any sport's, you must have insurance to be able to participate. The simmering sun blazing in Ryan’s face while sweat reluctantly battles to fall from his face, this excitement assures him of his decision. This great victory of assuring yourself of playing your chosen sport isn't given to everyone because of this policy. These students with no access to insurance aren't given the freedom to choose weather or not they would like to participate in sports. Actually, most of the time it really isn't the students faults for not having insurance, so why would we punish them for it? This is clearly an issue that should be dealt with or at least recognised . I will be willing to compromise for this issue, will you?

While I was grieving for more information on this issue, I took my curiosity to the school’s Athletic Director, Jason Patterson.

First off, I asked him, “Why is the school requesting  insurance to be able to participate in sports?”

He replied stating, “ To protect the students from any harm that can result from doing these various sport’s.”

I then said, “ Do you have any say on this policy ?”

“No, this policy applies district wide.” said athletic director Jason Patterson.

My final question was quite simple while I said,” Is there any  exceptions for this policy?”

Jason Patterson said, “No, the school doesn’t, but we work with students to find a solution and we have a program that works to give insurance for these purposes to students to be able to participate in sport’s. “

I put my questions as clearly as possible which pulled through as well because he was very willing to give me answers. Taking the time to understand there decision may not be easy, but recognizing that they may not mean any harm in this decision is advised.
