Last week, students were doing a penny war. Their hopes were to raise the most amount of pennies, while giving other classes silver coins. Silver coins cancel out pennies and can eventually leave a class with a negative amount of pennies.
    The class who raised the most amount of pennies was Spanish teacher, Andrew Hansen. After subtracting the silver from his penny total, his class raised a positive $29.58. When adding the silver to the pennies, his class raised $85.78. Hansen's class therefore got to shave his hair, color it, and do whatever they wanted. He has to leave this in for the rest of the week.
    Math teacher Jenny Karsen's class raised the most amount of silver and pennies added together. This total was $87.32. In realization of not being able to win first place with pennies, her class added $63.80 of silver coins on the last day. Because they won the category of having the most amount of money when added together, their prize was getting donuts.
    The total money raised from all classes was $608.31. This is with pennies and silver added together.
    What is this money for? It was raised to help Sherri Norlin, who works in the transportation department and has two children in the high school. Norlin was diagnosed with returning breast cancer. This has put a toll on her and her family. This money has been raised to help her, and her fight against it.
    Also, on Sat. April 30, there is going to be a spaghetti benefit dinner. Donations will be taken, and there will also be a silent auction.
